Wekabyte is a personal blog about various aspects of my experiences in IT.

My name is Michael Poore and I am a freelance IT Consultant based near Bath, England. I specialise in virtualisation technologies (mainly VMware) although a number of my blog entries will invariably end up being about other subjects too. I am VCP4, VCP3 and VTSP4 certified and I also have MCSE and MCSA certifcations under my belt.

I can be found on LinkedIn and Twitter or even MSN if you know me well enough.

What is a wekabyte?

It’s probably safe to assume that anyone visiting this site has at least encountered binary before. In computing a “bit” is a single 0 or 1. A “byte” is 8 bits. As an example, 10011011. After that you get the following:

Kilobyte = 1024 Bytes
Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes
Gigabyte = 1024 Megabytes
Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes
Petabyte = 1024 Terabytes
Exabyte = 1024 Petabytes
Zettabyte = 1024 Exabytes
Yottabyte = 1024 Zettabytes
Xonabyte = 1024 Yottabytes
Wekabyte = 1024 Xonabytes

And so on…
